My phone, like most today, has a GPS. There are times, when I’m heading to a place I’ve never been before, or when its real important, when I’ll actually use it.
When I think I know where I’m going, though, I rarely use it. I’ll go my own way, and more often than not, I will end up taking a wrong turn.
Its only after I’m good and lost that I’ll fire up my GPS and let it guide me where I’m intending to go.
Unfortunately, a lot of people go through life that way. We think we know where we are going, and how to get there, so we go it on our own, and really make a mess of things.
But did you know we can go through life with a Guide? Just like the GPS on our phone, we normally only call on It when we’ve really screwed things up. We’ll decide to pray only when we have exhausted everything else. But if we’d ask to begin with, things in our lives could go much more smoothly.
Psalm 25:4-5 Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long
God’s willing to help us get where we were designed to go. All’s we need to do is remember to ask – first.
