Not long ago, I mentioned how I fail to use my GPS, get lost, and THEN break it out. Well, that happened to me again in between then and now.
I took out my phone, and fired up the GPS, and told it the address I wanted to navigate to. I noticed that there was a spot for the starting location, and I had to pick “From my Current Location.” It seemed to obvious that I wondered why I actually had to pick it.
Ever wonder why such an obvious answer in the physical life seems to elude us in our spiritual life? I read recently that a common reason people give for not following Jesus is that they want to get things squared away in their lives first. They’re not ready. They feel like they need to get rid of some things. They want to start their journey from somewhere else, rather than from where they are.
I’m not only talking about new converts here: believers do that, too, when they feel the call to follow His will.
When Jesus invites you to follow him, He means from right where you are: From Your Current Location. There is no need to go back to a checkpoint or go ahead to someplace a little closer. He reaches out to us with love and grace and asks us to step out in faith. Does it seem like it will be too hard? He has promised to give us strength. Feel trapped by sin? His freedom comes with endless mercy. Been there before? He has boundless patience. Let Him show you where he wants you to go, and then go.
If you don’t, I am convinced you will miss out on an awesome trip!
“’Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).
Grace and Peace,
